310′mc – Post 17 – Further Spectacle Research

So thinking further about spectacles I thought I would start off by going over what my favourite types of spectacles are, in no specific order these spectacles influence my life and potentially shape my character.

So to start of Football, this plays a big part in my life, I watch it on TV, sometimes I travel and watch Leicester City play I bet on football, I talk about it down the pub, in the car, on social network sites like Facebook or twitter, so football comes into my life a lot and like I said these spectacles can potentially shape my character, I believe football has, from playing at a young age, I played for all the schools I have been to team, So my friends I talk to and go out with are also as fanatic about football as I am. Below is a video of why Football not only plays such a big part in my life but also why it is a spectacle.

 

With the talent that this one footballer has, its enough to make me want to not only talk about his abilities but also mimic them on the field. I am not the only one, as the video below shows.

Football is massive, a world-wide spectacle, with the upcoming world cup football will once again be the forefront of the media spotlight.

Another one of my favourite spectacles is, music. Today music has a huge impact on many lives, it influences and shapes the listeners out look on life, theres a range of genres, currently my favourite genre is RnB, below is one of my favourite new songs out at the moment.

Music influences lives all over, music artists are constantly throwing out new material, which can be both positive and negative, when you think of some of the negative points of RnB or Rap, you have to think about gang violence, one example that comes to mind is the rivalry that was between B.I.G and 2 pac, they both killed each other over this rivalry, below is a video that shows my point. 

 

The Music industry is a spectacle, with thousands of artists and music concerts showing to millions each year, like Glastonbury, the industry is booming and i will only continue to grow with new artists rising up with spin offs on other artists work example below.

So with this video Ryan Leslie pulls off a spin on Lil Wayne’s hit song Lollipop, it works perfectly and shows that you can throw a song that sounded and looked like it was fixated in one single genre and throw it in a completely different direction.

My final spectacle is a newcomer to the spectacle circle, Gaming, once a private events has been proven recently that it is defiantly in the category of being a spectacle, with the introduction of Modern warfare 2, the grand opening that it got could have been compared to a box office film opening, below is a video of the grand launch in Leicester square this is a MUST WATCH.

Following on with Modern warfare 2, the Launch Trailer for this was one best trailers I have seen for a game, once again it could have easily be compared to box office film trailer.

So this is why I believe gaming is easing its way into the spectacle circle,with shows like at Leicester square it wont take long for others to follow, especially when they see that on the first day of the launch Modern warfare 2 made $500 million in one day.

So I believe looking at these spectacles will help wider my horizon of influences going into 311mc, where I will be pulling in this information from 310mc.
